書道

Japanese calligraphy is the way of writing with brush and Sumi ink.

Sho means writing  and Do means the way of doing something.

書道とは筆と墨をつかって字を書く事です。　書は「書く事」　で道は「やり方」という意味です。

道具

すずり　　ink stone

筆                 brush  

文鎮             paper weight

下敷き         felt mat

半紙             hanshi paper

墨汁            indian ink または　sumi ink (なぜインドのインクなのかはまたそのうち）

１　学校でならう習字は書道の入り口であり字を上手に書く練習です。

　Shuji which taught in school is the starting point of Shodo and basically it is penmanship.

2  書道は芸術であり書を通じて自己を表現します。
